Back Injury Blamed For Gordon Defeat
MG1SW Gordon Lord Byron (Ire) (Byron {GB}) logged a rare below par effort in the G1 Haydock Sprint Cup on Saturday, finishing tenth of fifteen, but trainer Tom Hogan has revealed a re-occurrence of a back problem as a reason for the 7-year-old’s poor effort. Gordon Lord Byron has suffered with back trouble a few times in the past and Hogan is optimistic that the latest bout will not keep him sidelined for too long. “The vet came over from England, he identified the problem and has dealt with it,” said the Tipperary trainer. “He is prone to back problems and it’s just unfortunate it happened on Saturday as otherwise he was in tremendous form. We have to deal with these things all the time and hopefully we’ll get it right the next day. We’ll see how he is tomorrow, but he should be back in action fairly soon.”
